Bertha Dallmann

          Bertha Dallmann, 100, Edgeley, ND died Monday, January 25, 2010 at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, ND.

          Bertha Zahn was born November 7, 1909 near Forbes, ND, the daughter of Gottfried and Sophia (Brandenburger) Zahn.  She attended a rural school.  Following her father’s death in 1918, the family went through many hardships.  In the fall of 1924, the family moved to Forbes where the children attended school.  In 1928, they moved to Kulm, ND to be near their church.  Bertha later became a telephone operator in Kulm.  On June 3, 1932, she and William Dallmann were united in marriage in Edgeley, ND.  To this union 5 children were born.  They lived and farmed near Deisem, ND and raised their family there.  In June of 1975, Bill and Bertha moved into Edgeley, ND.  They enjoyed many senior citizen bus trips together.  Bill passed away on January 2, 1992.  Bertha continued to reside in Edgeley.  She entered Manor St. Joseph on October 4, 2002 and Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, ND on August 28, 2006. 

          Bertha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley LWML, Edgeley Senior Citizens and former member of the Jud Homemakers.  She was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, nature and rides through the countryside.

Survivors include 4 sons: Roger (Audrey) Dallmann, Edgeley, ND; Kenneth Dallmann, Edgeley, ND; Jerry (Janice) Dallmann, Edgeley, ND; Dennis (Isabelle) Dallmann, Lisbon, ND; a daughter, Norma Jean (Jim) Foote, Leo, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Elsie Dallmann, The Dalles, OR and Audrey Dewes, Jamestown, ND

          She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers, 3 sisters and a grandson, Alan.

Funeral – 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND

Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND

Visitation – 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday

Interment – Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
